Setting New Year Resolutions is something that we do at the start of every year and somehow it slips through the cracks after just a few months or even days of setting it. I’ve been guilty of this and have held myself back before to not see my passion or goals through. So for this year’s resolutions old and new, I feel like I can finally take them on because of a change in mindset. When asked by my blogger bestie Alyssa which word did I choose for 2017 I decided on the word Action. Putting things into action instead of just saying I will. Actually seeing things through because I’ve put forth the effort. Making my dreams into a reality because I set my goals into motion. I hope this word will help guide me with all of my resolutions to infinity and beyond (Toy Story ) Though taking action can sound extremely scary sometimes – know that it’s absolutely necessary in order to create and live a life that you want. That is what I’m going to keep telling myself this year and just go for it big or small and I would encourage you all to do the same!
Now, lets get into my resolutions for 2017!
Passion Plan: I started using a Passion Planner at the beginning of 2016 for 5 months and I’m not going to lie, it totally works! It helps tremendously with goal setting and time management! One of the main goals it helped me to accomplish was finding a new full time job that I LIKE! ( the like part is very important ) and it came true! I’m more of a visual person so creating mind maps was a really cool way to goal set and I can’t wait to continue using it this year to plan out new content for Happily Ever Nancy and my second passion project that I’m working on with Alyssa called The Casual Creatives that I can’t wait to share with you all soon!
Document: Growing Happily Ever Nancy on my Blog and Youtube has always been my goal even though I’ve struggled with figuring out a clear direction for it. I’ve come to realize that it’s okay that I don’t fully know the big picture yet and that everything will fall into place once I continue to immerse myself into this amazing internet space! Last year I watched one of Gary Vaynerchuk’s videos that really stood out to me when he offered the advice of switching up our mindsets to documenting instead of creating. What he said really resonated with me because it was the root of why I’ve been standing in my own way from sharing more on my Blog and YouTube. The idea of creating can sometimes make us experience perfection paralysis to the point where we feel like we can’t share our content until it’s absolutely “perfect” or at the “right time.” Whereas the idea of documenting embraces every moment of the journey that we’re all taking. So an action that I’m taking this year is to not let the fear of feeling inadequate stop me from sharing my passions and thoughts.
Saving: Oh adulting! Saving up to become financially stable has been one of the hardest things to master after graduating college. I really wish school taught us better personal financial habits & tips but we can’t dwell on the past now can we. So for this year I want to learn more about how to better handle personal finances and develop good financial habits especially because Johnny and I want to purchase a house in the near future so we can take the next step and start a family! #FutureBabyNguyen
Travel: There is so much out in the world that I have yet to see in real life. Pictures and YouTube videos can only do so much but I’m truly looking forward to traveling more this year. If you’ve followed along for a while you might have realize that I am a huge Disney fan and that I only ever travel to Disneyland LOL. Though the travel bug bit me a long time ago, I’ve yet to really gone out to explore but that’s all going to change this year because as I’m typing this now, Johnny and I have decided to finally take our dream trip to EUROPE! I don’t know when yet, but it’s happening this year! EUROPE WE’RE COMING FOR YOU!
Taking Care of Myself Mentally & Physically: So at the end of 2016, I signed up to run the San Diego Half Marathon that’s happening on March 12, 2017 as a way to motivate myself to start taking fitness seriously again. This is my first time ever running a half marathon and I’m super scared but as of today, it hasn’t been bad training for it with Johnny and my closest friends who are also doing it too! Running has been extremely relaxing for the mind and it feels so good to be able to complete each mile! Also I finally joined the Tone It Up Nutrition Plan after following them for years and I’m kicking things off with their Love Your Body 6 Week Challenge. I’m so excited to be participating and taking control of my body and health again. I’m hoping that through this challenge that It’ll help me develop some discipline and teach me a thing or two about meal prepping & enjoying workouts!
